PARENTDASHBOARD IS A SOCIAL PURPOSE ENTERPRISE
ParentDashboard isn’t your everyday company.
Company Founder & CEO Michelle Boshard is the parent of a now adult non-verbal boy with severe autism and behavioural challenges. Michelle & her family experienced such significant impacts from the gaps & shortages in various government & insurance services for complex needs families, she realized an entirely new system design was needed for this community.
In 2016, after burnout from extreme experiences and let downs in the educational, medical and social support systems when she advocated for her son's services or care, Michelle became dedicated to ensuring that families like hers got the daily care and support they need to support their complex kids, in ways that respect their dignity and cause no additional work or complication to their already big & busy jobs as caregivers.
After running a home and community based respite and homeschool service for her son and other families, Michelle realized that rather than chasing after insufficient, piecemeal and ephemeral government grants and insurance with exhausting and fruitless paperwork, she wanted to create a social purpose enterprise and used business techniques to generate revenue streams that simply pay for the what parents can't always afford yet desperately need.
Michelle set out on a decade long business exploration journey to develop "the giant bakesale" to subsidize parent costs for respite & homeschool delivery, advocacy support, and other real-life tools and resources that make the daily logistics of life easier for families with complex needs kids. Over many years and failed attempts, she designed the way online business, application of new technology and collaborative business partnerships can generate the resources she needed to pay for care without government grants, insurance or charity. And so, ParentDashboard was born.
ParentDashboard is therefore neither a traditionally run “for-profit" company, nor is it a charity. Revenue the company generated from business to business services to ParentDashboard's partnered providers of product or services are used to pay for it's own company expenses to deliver respite, homeschool and other daily tools to caregivers who participate in the ParentDashboard Points Program.
